- Question: Does the AYSO 1508 Board get paid?
Answer: No. We are all volunteers who donate our time and experience to help the kids play in an locally organized soccer club.
- Question: Can I keep the same coach every season?
Answer: No. Only head and assistant coaches can have their kids on the same team.
Question: Does my child need cleats or shin guards?
- Answer: Yes! However, active tennis shoes will work too. We want the best for our children so having them wear cleats is a better option but not required. Shin guards ARE required for safety. Ball sizes: size 3 for 4U,5U,6U,7U,8U. Size 4 for 10U and 12U. Size 5 for 14U and older.
- Question: What is the practice and game schedule?
- Answer: Practices are dependent on your coach. Coaches get to choose what day(s) the team will practice. That is a HUGE advantage to busy parents, being able to plan your practice day(s).
Games are on Saturday ranging from 8 - 2 PM.

Answer: Registration opens May 1st. Fall registration is limited and placement on a team is NOT guaranteed even if registering by the end of regular registration. Late registration for some divisions will remain open until late August. Priority placement on a team is given to parents willing to coach. The season runs early August-mid November, you will be contacted by the team coach by early August. Check the region calendar on our website for important upcoming dates.
Question: What is included with the registration fee?
Answer: The $20 AYSO National fee is also included in the registration price, which is a non-refundable fee that every player pays once per AYSO year. An AYSO year is Fall 2023-Spring 2024 (August 1st, 2023-July 31st, 2024).
For the fall season, teams in 6U-19U have a 10 game season pending unforeseen circumstances.
-Teams in 10U and older will also have the option of playing in a tournament at the end of the season.
-The fee paid includes the uniform-jersey, shorts and socks.
-Player registration fees and sponsorships also cover costs for our volunteer background checks, coach training, referee training, field permits, field maintenance, field equipment and materials and supplies needed to run our region.
Question: What happens if my child's team does not get a coach?
Answer: AYSO is an 100% volunteer organization and we rely on parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings (over 18yo) and family friends to volunteer as coaches for your children's teams. If no one from a team steps up to volunteer as a team coach, then we are left with no alternative but to disband the team. This is a last resort, but without volunteers we can not have team. This is why it is so important for parents to step up to volunteer. Coaching is also a very rewarding experience, each volunteer coach plays a very important role as a role model and mentor to the children they coach. We offer online and in person coaching courses.
Question: I'm unable to be a head coach, is there any other team volunteer position that I can help with?
Answer: Yes, every team needs an assistant coach, team manager and referees. ALL teams need to have at least one certified referee on their team. Ideally, each team should have 2 or 3 referees so that duties can be shared over the course of the season. Kids as young as 12 years old may become a certified referee. This a great way for them to earn community service hours for school. Our region has several referee certification courses before the start of the season as well as a few weeks into to season.
